I’m in Orlando this week Fincon, an annual gathering of those who work at the intersection of money and media. As a result, I didn’t have time to do everything I normally do in a week. I have never read or written about money. Instead, I chatted a lot with my colleagues.
We have been at Fincon since 2011. At first, we were almost strangers to each other. Today many of these people are close friends of mine, but friends whom he only sees in person once or twice a year. I cherish every moment I spend with them.
For example, on Tuesday our group private VIP tour of Disney theme parksIt was a lot of fun. I mean, look at this wretched scum and den of villainy…
Chatting with other money geeks this week gave us even more clarity on the future direction of Get Rich Slowly on the web, YouTube, and in our email newsletter.
As you can see, most money bloggers (and podcasters and YouTube creators) are in for the money. It’s good. I’m fine with that. But it’s not me.
yes i want to earn income from my job but luckily i don’t need To earn that income today. I made a windfall profit from this site 13 years before his, so I was able to pursue this as a passion project (at least for a while).
Instead, you can focus on making Get Rich Slowly meaningful to you and help you. I can ignore the financial side of things while working to build resources to help people master their money and lives. You may not earn much, but I believe that if you provide value, you will eventually find a way to make money in a way that doesn’t compromise your value.
Send us your questions and stories!
Anyway, as part of Get Rich Slowly’s new vision, we want to reach out to more people. youI thought of various ways to do that. For example, when I launched the site, GRS had two regular features that made our community of readers stand out.
First, there was an ongoing “Ask the Readers” column where real readers present questions and dilemmas for discussion. This became an opportunity for people to seek advice from the entire community. Here are the actual past questions:
Second, there was a regular “Reader Stories” column where people like you shared financial anecdotes from their lives. But it can also be an interesting how-to article. Below are stories from past readers.
I’d like to bring these features back. Probably not every week like it used to be. Maybe they are only monthly. it doesn’t matter. The important thing here is that Get Rich Slowly is a chance to think about more than just me. This is a chance for the site to help everyone get better with their money.
for that: If you need help with financial questions or money dilemmas, please contact me. We will work with you to create a question for the GRS community. Similarly, If you have a money story you’d like to share with everyone, send it to us.
How to submit a story or question
If you If you’d like to share your story or ask a question, please keep these guidelines in mind.
- Your story doesn’t have to be an example of what to do right But be aware that other readers can get cranky on people they think are making stupid decisions. Please share your example. no do.
- Keep things fun! Write naturally, like you would email a friend. Don’t try to fuss for Get Rich Slowly. I will help you edit it to look good.
- People don’t like bankruptcy or “running out of debt” stories. You can include these elements in your story, but try not to focus on them. If your story is “declared bankruptcy and got out of debt”, it will go near the bottom of the stack.
- Length doesn’t matter (stories can be long or short). Your story doesn’t have to be in MS Word or any other format. Please fill it out and send it to jdroth@getrichslowly (dot-org, not dot-com).
- If you need to be anonymous for any reason, be sure to specify that. We would also be happy to accept a link to your website, no Run questions and stories that are blatant ploys for self-promotion. If what you send me is clearly meant to be an advertisement, you’re only pissing me off.
So go ahead: Send me your story or question. I look forward to reading them and sharing the best with the GRS readers.
