This year’s Microsoft Build 2023 event is one of the largest developer-focused conferences, with a focus on major announcements.
Similar to Google’s I/O keynote and Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WDC), Microsoft also hosts interactive sessions for developers and software engineers using Microsoft products.
In addition to bringing a major upgrade to Windows 11 with the help of AI tools, here are some of the most important updates delivered in Microsoft Build 2023.
ChatGPT integration with Bing
Microsoft announced that it will integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its search engine Bing, allowing AI tools to get real-time information from users’ searches. The new GPT-4 LLM can be accessed in real time using Microsoft’s search engine Bing.
This feature was rolled out to ChatGPT-plus subscribers on May 24th. The move by Microsoft comes on the heels of Google’s recent announcement of AI chatbot Bard, which also provides real-time results.
Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, said, “ChatGPT will incorporate a world-class search engine that will provide more timely and up-to-date answers when accessed from the web.”
Windows 11 and Copilot
The tech giant has revealed that Windows 11 will feature an enhanced version of Windows 365 Copilot supported by three plugins:
- power platform connector
- Teams message display options
- Tools using ChatGPT
Windows 11 users will have access to the Windows Copilot Preview coming this June. Microsoft then integrated his web browser Edge with 365 Copilot to improve productivity by allowing users to work seamlessly across Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Additionally, the company integrated with GitHub Copilot to bring an AI chatbot to Windows Terminal, giving developers easy access to the chatbot for code suggestions, error descriptions, and more.
Azure AI
Microsoft also plans to enhance its Azure offerings by improving the usability and efficiency of cloud computing. Some of the services included in Azure are:
- Provisioned throughput mode
- Azure AI Studio
- Plugins for incorporating external data sources
