This is an update on an ongoing project to upgrade our data center in Fremont, CA. The upgrade expands the capacity of computing resources and enables additional products and services at the new facility named Santa Clara, California. At the end of the project, the Fremont location will be decommissioned and everything will be moved to the Santa Clara location.
Beginning as early as January 23, 2023, customers deploying new resources in Fremont may be automatically routed to our Santa Clara facility. Customers with existing Fremont resources will be contacted via support tickets in the coming weeks regarding deployment options for fully transitioning to the new facility.
Data center improvements
In addition to capacity and network improvements in the US West region, when fully opened, Santa Clara will support:
- VLANss Enable a private Layer 2 network for secure communication between Linodes.
- NVMe block storage Connect highly available, high-performance storage volumes to your infrastructure.When
- IP sharing IPv6 support enables failover and rerouting of traffic to secondary environments.
SOC2 certification for Santa Clara is also available upon request. You can open a support ticket. provide this.
Information for Fremont users
With the move to the Santa Clara data center, we are implementing some changes to this location.
If this data center becomes available and deployments are routed to the Santa Clara facility when any of the above features are required, Please open a support ticket.
