Fast-moving consumer goods giant Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) on Friday appointed Rohit Jawa as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Jawa, currently Unilever’s Head of Transformation, will assume a leadership role from 27 June 2023.
He will succeed Sanjiv Mehta, who is retiring from the company after a ten-year tenure.
Jawa will also join the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE), taking over as President of Unilever South Asia, effective April 1, 2023. He will join the company as an executive director, appointed by the CEO, effective April 1, 2023.
Jawa is now Head of Transformation for Unilever in London. He started his career at HUL in 1988 as a management trainee and has a proven track record of sustained achievements in India, Southeast Asia and North Asia.
As EVP of North Asia and Chairman of Unilever China, Jawa transformed Unilever China into a competitive, profitable and stable business.
He also served as Chairman of Unilever Philippines, leading the business to become one of Unilever’s top 10 markets worldwide.
“Rohit’s ability to integrate traditional market strengths with digital technology and a future-proof business model will enable him to lead HUL into its next phase of growth,” HUL said in a statement.
