Downloading this episode as an audio podcast is one of the fastest we’ve seen, with over 30,000 views in the first few days and counting. There will be over 45,000 by the end of this week. YouTube videos are on pace to achieve similar numbers. Combine the two of these and you’re talking about him being one of the biggest audiences in the financial industry for his episodes of the podcast. We do this every week. The platform we’re building to showcase the best investment opinions is second to none. You are one of them, and you have spent the last few years helping us create this thing out of thin air.
Here’s a video version in case you haven’t figured it out yet.
Sam brought tons of data and graphs into the conversation, and Jack made us think and laugh. He reached number 10 on the Apple Podcasts investment chart. We had an episode of the Motley Fool ahead of us and a bunch of Dave Ramsey “episodes” that were really just clips ripped from the same show (yes, he’s cheating to stay on top of the charts). It won’t be long before this becomes the #1 investment podcast in America. If you’ve been paying close attention, you already know that I won’t stop until I get there. The thumbnail above is a joke (well done, Duncan). I’m not trying to trick the algorithm to grow my audience. We will continue to do what we have always done: inform, educate, and entertain.
Given the pandemic we’re going through these days, we want to say thank you for watching.
It has never been commonplace for our branded financial content to translate text from blogs and books into audio and video. We had to work on it and figure it out. We needed changes and course corrections along the way. But what has never changed is this message: Less is better, stocks do better over time, so do bonds, risk pays off, not all risks are created equal, no one can predict the future, diversification works over time but not always, human behavior transcends everything else, history repeats itself, cycles are inexorable, fear and greed are never obsolete, costs and taxes matter, willingness to endure volatility is better than avoidance It’s profitable, having a personal financial plan is more important than perfecting your portfolio, worst-case scenarios are rarely real, etc.
These are the things we know to be true. These are the things we’ve been saying, charting, illustrating, and proving for over a decade. It is a mission to reach new generations with their voice in a new medium, and that mission is being fulfilled every day. You are one of them. The more people you can get on your side, the more people win in investments and in life.
