Introducing Ricky Smart
Born, raised and currently living in Houston, Texas. Ricky Smart holds a BA in Graphic Design from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Upon graduating from college, Smart was hired as an illustrator developing gift product designs for a Las Vegas hotel. After that, he worked as a graphic designer for several companies, and after a few years of freelancing, he got a job at a design company specializing in WordPress.
Smart is a multimedia designer with what you need And I’ve been in this position for just over a year. His work ranges from updating and redesigning websites, designing backgrounds and materials for exhibitions, creating graphics for social his media, videos, motion his graphics, writing and producing commercials.
Why did you join Liquidweb?
A friend of mine told me that Nexcess is looking for a designer. I looked it up and found I could see how Nexcess and Liquid Web fit into my mindset and ethos of building on an open source platform and being very proactive, helpful, and friendly. Previously, I had dealt with many other hosting companies on behalf of my clients and knew how important it is for a hosting company to have a positive and positive attitude. It was refreshing to see the idea of usefulness so deeply rooted in the foundation of this company.
What draws you to the hosting industry as a career?
I didn’t even think about it at first My profession as a designer usually leads to work, and Hosting company instead for they. In the past, my impression of hosting companies was not very positive. At least, it wasn’t until I discovered Liquid Web and Nexcess that I felt the personality and warmth of a hosting company.
Is there anything you particularly like about Liquid Web?
My team is remote, but I feel connected to everyone and the company. The sense of community extends to everyone in the company. That’s a rarity these days.
What is your favorite part of Liquid Web’s corporate culture?
everyone is happy to be here and love their work.
What makes Liquid Web different from other employers in your view?
Values companies place on both Employees and their customers are the key difference.
What’s the biggest milestone you’ve achieved?
I’m really proud of the commercial I made for Nexcess.
We are open to anyone and everyone suggesting ideas and concepts, and some of these ideas were seeded from what was just the first sketch of an idea. We then determine how the idea and message fit into our branding tone and the general personality of the company as a whole. It was interesting to find the right balance between being specific about what we do and telling people who we are.
Of course, our personalities need to be expressed through all of these topics, so creating a large part of our creative direction in-house helps us collectively communicate core messages that we otherwise might not have found. help you discover.
Tell us about a great customer experience with Liquid Web.
We are currently in post-production for Nexcess’s Voice of the Customer video. When I reviewed the footage, I was amazed at how easily they talked about his Nexcess and how much they shared. Helpful and accessible to professionals, the Liquid Web model has transformed his business in many ways. and relieved his stress.
What is Liquid Web known for? What specifically do people come to you for?
I am used to generating concepts and ideas and quickly iterating on those ideas. I have an extensive background in various types of design.I don’t know how that translates into how other people perceive me but I hope it means I am open to working on anything.
What do you want your customers to know about hosting?
or we really care About their site and business.
Aside from work, what are your hobbies?
I play guitar and make music. Staying true to the technology theme, I use both analogue and digital signals (MIDI) in my guitars, using virtual instruments and digital effects to do everything through my computer.
what’s your favorite tv show?
right now, I really enjoy Ted Russo. Other favorites are Barry, Westworld, The Rehearsal, Arrested Development, and Last Man on Earth.
what is your favorite app?
I found myself going back in time and spending more time Reddit. Being able to upvote or downvote content and comments makes for a more interesting and positive platform.
If you could have dinner with a celebrity [dead or alive]who?
Joseph Campbell. His book “The Hero’s Journey” and the monomyth’s thinking had a great influence on me.
