Frank Holmes: Bullish on gold, but silver will shine brightest in 2023youtube.be
According to Frank Holmes of US Global Investors (NASDAQ:GROW), he expects gold to hold up “very well” in 2022 and thrive in 2023. But where he really shines is in silver.
“We remain very bullish on gold as an asset class,” Holmes said. ‘ said.
“That means assets like gold will become even more important in a diversified portfolio. And 20% of silver is for solar panels, so silver is even more special,” he added. .
Holmes explained that US short-term interest rates are currently higher than those on 10-year Treasuries. A reversal of that could start a market turnaround and set the gold sector on fire.
“It would take some kind of global crisis to see short-term rates go below 10 years, and then the market would flip.”
Gold stocks are also poised to benefit from any change in interest rates.
“I think some of the mid-cap and small-cap stocks with high reserves per share will be bought,” Holmes said.
“When interest rates start going down in the US, the stock market starts going up, and gold goes up, what happens with gold stocks is when you get a staggering 10 bagger in gold stocks.”
Returning to silver, Holmes stressed that it will be the most bullish metal in 2023 due to its beta.
“I’m bullish on gold, and silver’s beta is always 50% higher. So if gold goes up 10%, silver goes up 15 (%),” he said, adding that precious metal stocks have even higher betas. . .
“If gold rises 20% in the next 18 months, it means silver will rise 30%, which means silver and gold stocks could rise 300, 500%,” he said. Holmes concluded.
