The beginning of a new year means Vancouver Resource Investment Conference (VRIC) is back.
The two-day event, scheduled to take place January 29-30 at the Vancouver Convention Center, will bring together dozens of resource sector professionals and more than 300 junior mining companies.
“There is so much chaos right now. There is confusion and uncertainty everywhere you look. How do you deal with it as an investor?” says.
“The answer is ‘I don’t know.’ But you can create a conversation to explore it.”
VRIC includes discussions focused on commodities such as gold, silver, copper and uranium, as well as broader macroeconomic overviews. Martin said he will tackle topics such as de-dollarisation, inflation and the European energy crisis.
Speakers include resource industry figures such as Rick Rule, Ross Beaty and Frank Giustra. Canadian politicians Christie Clarke and Brad Wall will also attend. Clark said he was Prime Minister of BC from 2011 until he was 2017, Wall said he was Premier of Saskatchewan from 2007 until he was 2018, and Martin was on topics such as recent state legislation. will be taken up.
“I love understanding the decision-making psychology behind elected leaders,” he said.
Another important part of VRIC is getting out on the show floor and talking to companies. “Cash is king,” Martin said, suggesting asking management about execution rates, cash on hand and when they need to raise capital.
For those unsure of which companies to consider, Martin’s suggestion was to show up early in the day at the conference asking experts like Brent Cook, Gwen Preston and Tavi Costa for their choices. .
All in all, he’s positive about VRIC — besides running Cambridge House, Martin hosts the Jay Martin Show on YouTube, and we’re starting to see generalist money managers pay attention to money. he said.
“Personally, it means nothing…but hearing that consensus, a wide range of American, European and Canadian money managers all allocate a small portion of their portfolios to one thing. It’s a collective tsunami of money,” he said.
